Communications

The Communications Committee (Comm) is the primary liaison between the general student body and the Undergraduate Student Senate. Through this position, Comm is responsible for maintaining a proper flow of information between the two as well as managing the external image Senate presents to the Carnegie Mellon community at large. Common channels used include overall publicity (posters, social media etc.), feedback opportunities (cmusenate.org/issues), and engaging with the student body (tabling), which serve to inform undergraduates of the operations of Senate as well as keep senators in various committees accountable and aware of the needs of their representatives. This year, we will have a special focus on making Senate and its Senators more accessible to the student body and promoting greater campus unity.

You can find information on the Publicity Request Process at cmusenate.org/publicity-requests.

Meeting Time: Saturdays 12:30-2:00 PM (Senate Office, CUC 333)

Current Projects

The goal of this project is to provide a streamlined process for other Senate committees to collaborate with Communications to advertise events and bring information to the student body that is immediately relevant to them.
After each GBM, we release a document highlighting some of our main updates from the week. This includes both news and ongoing initiatives. These are posted on the Senate Facebook page on Saturday mornings.
We work with the Tartan and the Executive Branch to keep the student body informed of initiatives, events, and changes on campus we are currently involved in.
